Okhaldhunga (Nepal) - Community schools in the rural areas of Nepal have a high number of underprivileged students. Due to their economic condition, these students often face significant problems in their studies. While some schools receive educational materials and even school uniforms from donors, students in most schools continue to study amidst shortages.
To end such shortages, two American organizations visited a remote village in Nepal during the first week of November. Representatives from these organizations went directly to two community schools in Jantarkhani, ward number 6 of Siddhicharan Municipality, Okhaldhunga district, and distributed school uniforms. Jantarkhani, located at an altitude of 2800 meters above sea level, also offers a view of Mount Everest. School uniforms were distributed at an event to the students of Jantarkhani Secondary School Jantarkhani and Navajyoti Secondary School Maidane, located in this very place.
The school uniforms were donated by America's Northstar Properties and Unstoppable Learning Dyslexia Education. The representatives present for the distribution were Gombu Sherpa from Northstar Properties and Stephen Mayers representing Unstoppable Learning Dyslexia Education. Also present at the uniform distribution were tourism entrepreneur and facilitator Dineshkumar Magar, Ward Chairman of Siddhicharan Municipality-6 Mekhbahadur Magar, along with teachers, students, and locals.
Despite the chilly weather of the winter season, the representatives of the supporting organizations reached the schools for the uniform distribution. They were warmly welcomed by the teachers, students, and guardians of the community schools with flowers, garlands, and khada (traditional scarf). The representatives of the supporting organizations distributed school uniforms to the students and also distributed jackets to the teachers working in both schools. It has also been announced that under the same campaign, there is a plan to distribute school uniforms to Thathhing Gumba Basic School and Bandana Basic School in the second phase, as well as musical instruments to all four schools.
At the uniform distribution program, Stephen Mayers, present as a representative of Unstoppable Learning Dyslexia Education, stated that the education being received here is "unbelievably important." He urged the students and guardians alike to "appr the teachers" who "put all the hard work in" for all the children. Additionally, he expressed happiness, asking the students to enjoy wearing the uniform and noting that they looked "beautiful" in them.
Gombu Sherpa, the representative of Northstar Properties, committed to providing further assistance in the future. He has been active in the social sector for a long time.
Facilitator Dineshkumar Magar, who has been continually active in the social sector, stated that this assistance was provided with the objective that no child should be deprived of educational opportunities due to economic hardship. He expressed the view that such assistance will help increase the students' attraction to the school and keep their morale high. Social worker Magar has been active in the social sector in Nepal for a long time.
